Please join WNCPA's Board as we host an evening of conversation, learning, and community. We will gather at the Governor's Western Residence and welcome Martha Turner-Quest, the Executive Director of NCPA. Ms. Turner-Quest will provide updates on how state and federal policies are continuing to affect and influence our field and the many ways that Psychologists and NCPA are actively involved. This in-person event will be interactive, conversational, and collaborative, and will aim to provide paths for local and state-wide advocacy. Current legal issues, such as the recent Chiles vs. Salazar Supreme Court decision, will be addressed and discussed. Come enjoy a special evening with your colleagues, catching up and making connections while enjoying good food and spectacular "golden hour" mountain views!
About Our Speaker
Martha Turner-Quest is the Executive Director of the North Carolina Psychological Association (NCPA) and the North Carolina Psychological Foundation (NCPF). She directs the day-to-day operations and overall business practices for both entities, and she is a registered lobbyist for NCPA. Martha has 20 years of experience working in the non-profit sector. She has also been the chief of staff at a small college and a researcher and grant writer for county and state government. Her expertise includes managing crises of economic austerity, operational effectiveness, and the creation and implementation of policies and procedures. Martha also currently serves as the chair of The Coalition, comprised of statewide organizations in North Carolina that are committed to assuring the availability of services and support for individuals who experience addictive diseases, mental illness, and developmental disabilities. She is also the co-chair of the North Carolina Joint Insurance Committee, and she serves on The Trust's SPTA Advisory Council. Martha has served as a past chair of the Council of Executives of State and Provincial Psychological Associations (CESPPA).
Event Details
This is an in-person event at the Governor's Western Residence (45 Patton Mountain Road, Asheville, NC 28804). The planned schedule is as follows:
4:30-5:30pm: Social hour & appetizers--arrive anytime before 5:30pm
5:30pm: Presentation and discussion led by Martha Turner-Quest
6:45-8pm: Dinner & conversation
Attendees will need to reserve their space by purchasing a ticket on the event page on the WNPCA website (link included in this email) for $30/ticket. The ticket fee covers event costs including appetizers, a catered meal and non-alcoholic beverages.
In order to ensure our ability to make event preparations, we are urging that tickets be purchased no later than Monday, May 4th. We will accommodate attendance requests (emailed to wncpaboard@gmail.com) after that time as we are able.
