The body holds the shame: working with medical trauma and body image
This presentation will discuss medical trauma and body shaming in healthcare. Dr. Mullane will define the terms “medical stress” and “medical trauma," discuss ways in which medical stress/trauma impact body image and self-esteem, and review methods for working with body-related shame in psychotherapy.
Dr. Christen Mullane is a licensed psychologist and certified meditation teacher, who specializes in working with individuals who have experienced medical stress or trauma. Read more about Dr. Mullane's practice at www.ginkgoleafhealth.com.
